Schooling

We are no longer a homeschooling institution. St Elly’s is now registered as an independent school operating under the guidance of the Department of Education.
Our curriculum is based on a distance-learning model that enables individualised learning. This flexible approach allows facilitators and parents to cater to each learner’s unique learning style and pace—whether learning takes place in a structured classroom setting or at home. Our model combines the benefits of formal schooling with the adaptability of personalised education, ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to succeed.

The curriculum comprises four phases:
- Foundation Phase (Grade R to 3)
- Intermediate Phase (Grade 4 to 6)
- Senior Phase (Grade 7 to 9)
- Further Education and Training Phase, also known as FET (Grade 10 to 12).

Extra Classes

Extra classes to help students master challenging school subjects have become a familiar and effective solution for many learners. These sessions are tailored to address specific academic needs and are conducted on a one-to-one basis, ensuring personalized attention and support for each student.
Our extra classes are available for all grades and cover a wide range of subjects, offering flexible options to suit individual learning requirements. These sessions must be booked and paid for in advance to secure availability and allow for proper scheduling. We work with a team of dedicated tutors who bring diverse expertise and teaching styles, ensuring that students receive the best possible guidance.
The hourly fees for these classes may vary depending on the tutor, the subject being taught, the number of hours required, and the days and times selected. This flexible structure allows us to cater to a variety of needs and budgets while maintaining high-quality educational support.
Importantly, our extra classes are not limited to students from a specific school. Scholars from other schools are welcome to join and benefit from our services, making this an inclusive initiative designed to enhance learning outcomes for all who need it. Whether a student is struggling with mathematics, languages, sciences, or any other subject, we are here to help them succeed.

Assessments Exam Bodies

At St Elly’s Independent School, we are currently in the process of obtaining accreditation with Umalusi, the quality council responsible for setting and maintaining standards in general and further education and training in South Africa. We understand that Umalusi accreditation is a rigorous process that cannot be achieved overnight, as it ensures that only institutions of the highest standard are recognised.
Choose Your Pathway at St Ellys Advanced Education Centre
At St Ellys AEC, we offer students the flexibility to select from three recognized assessment bodies to suit their educational needs:
SACAI (South African Comprehensive Assessment Institute)
While we are not accredited with SACAI, students may still opt to use SACAI as their syllabus provider, offering another valuable pathway to success.
IEB (Independent Examinations Board)
As our preferred provider, IEB ensures a high-quality education that meets rigorous academic standards.

At St Ellys AEC, we empower students with choice and support their journey to academic excellence.
Department of Basic Education (DBE)
We are now an independent school offering education from Grade R to Grade 12.
For students aged 18 and older, we also provide an alternative pathway to complete their schooling and achieve their educational goals.
