ABOUT US
Our Story
Our Academic Phases and Offerings
St. Elly’s began its journey in 2008, initially offering extra classes to assist children with their schoolwork. It started as a study center where children received help with homework and attended extra subject classes.
The transition to homeschooling was unplanned but inspired by a parent’s request to homeschool their child. In its early years, St. Elly’s primarily supported learners using international syllabi such as Cambridge and GED.
Recognizing the growing demand for support aligned with the South African CAPS curriculum, the center gradually shifted its focus. By 2016, St. Elly’s had evolved into a full-time homeschooling center.
A Personalised Approach
At St. Elly’s, the goal is to empower scholars to succeed. The center supports over five different syllabi, tailoring the choice based on each child’s academic progress and financial situation. Every scholar is treated as an individual, with guidance provided to ensure the best decisions for their education.

What We Value
St. Elly’s Independent School’s four values of integrity, responsibility, endeavour and curiosity are at the very foundation of every boy’s and girl’s education at St Elly’s and underpin all that we do.
Integrity
We aim to instil in every boy and girl the strong moral principles of honesty, trustworthiness, sportsmanship and fairness.
Responsibility
We encourage boys and girls to take responsibility and pride in their learning and behaviour, and their role and responsibility within the school and the wider world.
Endeavour
We want boys and girls to stretch themselves, to always do their very best: and to aspire to, and achieve, success in all its forms.
Curiosity
We encourage boys and girls to develop their intellectual curiosity, broaden their knowledge and develop their own opinions of the world in which they live.
Our Vision
An Independent School which provides an outstanding all-round school education:
- Stimulating boys and girls intellectually inside the classroom, through an integrated curriculum that stretches across disciplines, age levels, social backgrounds and nationalities.
- Challenging boys and girls outside the classroom, through a broad range of extracurricular activity.
- Empowering scholars to be confident, articulate and resilient in every situation, through their experiences across all parts of school life.
Our Mission
Teaching scholars to think intelligently, act wisely and be fully engaged in a challenging and changing world.
Welcome to Our Learning Community
What makes us Different?
At St. Elly’s, we are committed to empowering our scholars to succeed. We currently support more than five different syllabi, carefully selected based on each child’s academic progress and financial considerations. Every learner is treated as an individual, ensuring they receive personalized guidance to make the best decisions for their educational journey.
At all our sites, we offer uncapped internet access, ensuring that learners and teachers can explore unlimited information to support the learner’s growth and development—without worrying about data limits.
Individualized Learning for Every Child
We welcome new children every month, and to ensure every learner is set up for success, we design personalized schedules. These plans ensure all necessary work is completed, and learners are well-prepared for their final exams. We believe a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work.
A Growing Homeschooling Community
The homeschooling community is expanding rapidly, and we’re here to support it. Dedicated WhatsApp and Facebook groups—managed by our community leader, Claudette Hasenjaeger—keep families informed about social events and educational field trips. These outings include visits to museums, bakeries, sports events, and more, providing valuable learning experiences and opportunities for children to socialize.
Sports Opportunities Made Simple
While we don’t have dedicated sports facilities, we are happy to connect families with reputable sports coaches across a variety of disciplines, including cycling, tennis, swimming, chess, soccer, and athletics. Parents can easily make direct arrangements to suit their child’s interests.
Join our supportive and resourceful community today, where learning, development, and social engagement come together to create a thriving educational experience!
